Job Summary
Hamilton High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead our Girls Basketball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive basketball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will possess a strong basketball background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring young athletes. This position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
- Organize and conduct team practices, games, and tournaments, ensuring all activities align with school and district policies.
- Recruit, train, and mentor assistant coaches and support staff.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team goals, expectations, and performance.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team development.
- Plan and oversee fundraising activities to support the basketball program.
- Collaborate with other coaches and athletic staff to promote the overall athletic program at Hamilton High School.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local athletic regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of team statistics, player attendance, and other relevant information.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to achieve their best.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during the basketball season as required.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
