POSITION OPENING:
Varsity Sideline and Competitive Cheer Coach
15-20 Hours per Week
POSITION: Varsity Sideline and Competitive Cheer Coach
REPORTS TO: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
HOURS: 15-20 HOURS PER WEEK
JOB GOAL
: To provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and development of Cheer and also instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence
WHAT WE NEED:
Experience Coaching cheer
Knowledge/experience scheduling practices
Teach techniques and fundamentals of sport
Be able to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport
Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport
Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department
Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to team at all times
Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs
The coach will be responsible for organizing practices, developing skills and routines, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting school spirit while ensuring a safe and positive environment for student-athletes
Choreograph and teach cheers, chants, and routines
Prepare the team for games, competitions, and school events
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
2. Ability to lead, organize and supervise all aspects of the cheer program.
3. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the mat.
5. Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
6. Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
7. Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
8. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
9. Maintains professional competence.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
