Position Summary:
Provide instruction and facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementation of the district's approved curriculum, in order to meet the educational needs of students by creating a safe and optimal learning environment.
Instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to character development, self discipline and self confidence.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized, small group instruction, and student learning
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning
Modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs; including students with special needs
Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
Coordinate with other staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees
Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation
Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs
Facilitate successful practice plans and game plans
Establish and maintain rapport with students and encourage student participation
Motivate students to achieve maximum potential
Maintain equipment and uniforms
Travel to away games with the team
Maintain compliance with all rules and regulations of the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA)
Adhere to all policies/rules/regulations of the District, the Athletic Handbook and the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator, Athletic Director, and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the fundamentals of the game of volleyball
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
Ability to organize and coordinate work
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, staff and stakeholders
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Certification/License:
Must have the appropriate level core content area endorsement on teaching certificate
