Job Title: Cross Country Coach (HS) Position Overview: The Cross Country Coach is responsible for training and mentoring student-athletes in long distance running events. This role involves developing training programs, guiding athletes in competitions, ensuring their safety, and promoting teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities: Develop Training Plans: Create effective sprinting training programs that address all aspects of sprinting technique, strength, endurance, speed, and agility. Coaching & Technique: Teach proper sprinting techniques, including starts, form, stride mechanics. Monitoring Progress: Assess and athletes' performance, providing constructive feedback and making adjustments to training as needed. Preparation for Competitions: Prepare athletes for meets and competitions, including warm-ups, mental preparation, and race strategy. Team Management: Foster a team environment, instilling discipline, sportsmanship, and respect among all athletes. Safety & Injury Prevention: Ensure athletes are trained on proper warm-up, stretching, and recovery techniques. Address any injuries promptly and manage recovery protocols. Attend Events: Be present at meets, practice sessions, and team-building activities, offering support and guidance to athletes. Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience as a coach, athlete, or assistant coach in distance running events is preferred. Knowledge: Strong understanding of techniques, training methods, and competition strategies. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to motivate athletes and collaborate with other coaches and staff. Leadership: Ability to lead, inspire, and maintain discipline among athletes. First Aid & CPR Certification: Preferred, or willingness to obtain prior to the season. Preferred Attributes: Passion for working with high school-aged students. Ability to motivate athletes to push their limits while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. Knowledge of safety protocols, injury prevention, and recovery techniques. Strong organizational skills for scheduling and managing practices, meets, and other team activities. ...
