Head High School Football Coach 2026-27

Athletic Director / Principal
Position Summary:
The Head Football Coach leads and manages all aspects of the high school football program in alignment with
Colorado High School Activities Association
(CHSAA) rules and expectations. This position emphasizes student-athlete development, academic success, sportsmanship, and building a strong, community-supported program typical of a rural school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and develop all levels of the football program (varsity and sub-varsity)
Ensure full compliance with CHSAA bylaws, eligibility, and season regulations
Plan and lead practices, games, and offseason conditioning within CHSAA guidelines
Promote multi-sport participation and maximize student involvement
Support and monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes
Recruit, supervise, and support assistant coaches (often limited staff in rural settings)
Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program inventory responsibly
Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and community members
Foster a positive team culture focused on effort, respect, and sportsmanship
Ensure student-athlete safety, including concussion protocols and proper supervision
Qualifications:
Football coaching experience preferred
Knowledge of CHSAA rules and rural program dynamics
Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
Ability to build relationships in a small school/community setting
Requirements:
CHSAA coaching registration and required trainings
Current CPR/First Aid certification
