AHS Health and Freshman Academy Teacher
Position Overview
The Freshman Academy & Health Teacher provides instruction that integrates academic skills with personal development, career readiness, and social-emotional learning. The teacher prepares students for academic success, professional communication, financial literacy, and responsible citizenship while fostering resilience, self-awareness, confidence, leadership & healthy habits.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Instruction
Deliver engaging lessons and activities that build foundational academic knowledge and real-world skills, including:
PSAT/SAT Preparation
Writing & Communication
Literacy & Study Skills
Academic Planning
Financial Literacy
Power Skills & Personal Development
Guide students in developing essential interpersonal and self-management skills:
Growth mindset and motivation for learning
Self-awareness and self-advocacy (strengths and areas for growth)
Empathy, tolerance, and kindness toward others
Teamwork and collaboration
Goal Setting
Time management & Organization
Social-Emotional Learning & Wellness
Support student well-being by teaching practical life strategies including:
Healthy coping mechanisms
Managing stress and overwhelm
Creating task plans and prioritized lists
Self-care practices
Healthy Relationships and Conflict Resolution
Drug, alcohol, tobacco, and vaping awareness
Basic sex education (health class)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Development, Counseling, Physical Education/Health, or related field (Master's preferred)
Current CO teaching license in the related content area or pursuing alternative licensure
Experience Preferred
Teaching, counseling, or mentoring teens
Experience with academic coaching, life skills, health/PE
Skills
Strong communication and presentation abilities
Ability to integrate academic instruction with life-skills & health education
Classroom management and student engagement skills
Ability to mentor and guide students' personal growth
Able to work closely with colleagues to support student success
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Number of teacher days assigned annually by district

Salary per ASD Master Agreement
3. Reports to AHS Building Principal
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy and procedure for evaluation of certified/licensed staff.
