Purpose Statement The job of Athletic Trainer is done for the purpose/s of preventing and treating athletic injuries. The Athletic Trainer is directly involved in the phases of health care for athletes including injury prevention, injury evaluation, immediate first aid, and rehabilitation. Essential Functions Assists coaches and officials during athletic events for the purpose of responding to equipment and/or medical needs of student athletes. Consults with physicians and other medical personnel (e.g. referrals, physical exams, fitting of braces, etc.) for the purpose of developing course of treatment for injured students/athletes. Supervises student trainers and paid student workers for the purpose of providing direction and or monitoring activities.
