Purpose Organize and supervise the sports program. Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence and pride of accomplishment. Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled events, meetings or practices. Advise, coordinate and support additional staff, such as volunteers and assistant coaches, when necessary. Performs other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principal. Qualifications Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.

JOB TITLE: Assistant Track Coach (extracurricular assignment) FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Not applicable. Paid via stipend. WORK DAYS: High School coaching seasons are defined by ISHAA. STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: Varies and are outside of contracted hours. WORK YEAR: High School coaching seasons are defined by ISHAA. SALARY SCHEDULE & BENEFITS: The Assistant Track Coach is paid on the "Teachers Athletic Extracurricular" salary schedule, paid via stipend during the season. The Teacher assigned to fulfill the duties of Coach is eligible for benefits on the "Teachers" benefits schedule due to his/her employment as a teacher, not due to being responsible for these extracurricular duties. The Assistant Track Coach that is not a Teacher or Non-Certified employee, but is a Lay Coach, defined as non-certified employee used only in the Athletic Program, is paid during season via stipend and not eligible for benefits.
