Summary:
Coconino High School is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our coaching staff as Assistant Softball Coaches. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with student-athletes in a supportive environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of the game of softball and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all players.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions to develop players' skills and team strategies.
- Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes to enhance their performance.
- Help organize and supervise team activities, including games, practices, and team meetings.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the softball program.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other staff to create a positive team culture and promote sportsmanship.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and encourage a balance between academics and athletics.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
- Support the head coach in maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and strategies.
- Uphold the values and mission of Coconino High School and promote the overall well-being of student-athletes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous coaching experience or a strong background in softball, either as a player or coach.
- Knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of softball.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all team members.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred but not required.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the softball season.
- A valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to pass a background check.
- NFHS Course Certifications: Fundamentals of Coaching and Concussion in Sports
