JOB SUMMARY: The head coach is responsible for the organization and implementation of a successful program. Develop a competitive program that is committed to the creation of student-athletes who demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills, and sportsmanship. QUALIFICATIONS: * Preferred Coaching Experience * Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of a varsity program * Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below * Positive public relations skills * Strongly encouraged to complete a coaching principles courses * Complete a First Aid Course with CPR component * Complete concussion course MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Coordinate total development and promotion of the program 2. Promotes all athletes to participate in sports and activities throughout the school year 3. Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions 4. Adjust coaching techniques, based on the ability of athletes 5. Arrange and conduct program-specific activities, such as summer training, skills-improvement sessions, and pre-season try-outs 6. Instruct athletes in rules, game strategies, and performance principles 7. Provide training, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition 8. Hire, supervise, and train assistant coaches 9. Develop and arrange competition schedules and programs with the approval of the Athletic Director 10. Generate additional funds for support of the program through approved fundraisers 11. Inventory and issue Athletic Equipment 12. Professionally communicate with the media 13. Carefully operate under state/league/school rules and regulations. 14. Discipline adjusts grievances, and works to increase morale and cooperation. 16. Provide all documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examination, parental consent, and eligibility. 17. Effectively manage a budget 18. Manage and coordinate Athletic facilities 19. Ability to evaluate assistant coaches 20. Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner. 21. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment. 22. Adhere to the KHS academic standards 23. Maintain a school website for communication purposes
